I imagine if you've somehow stumbled onto this blog of stupidity then you're familiar with the PWO Greatest Wrestler Ever project. It started as the SmarksChoice Greatest Wrestler Ever project way back in 2006, then in 2016 it was adopted by PWO and that's where its home has been ever since.
Basically a bunch of wrestling hardcores got together and decided to rank all of the wrestlers of forever and now every 10 years a bunch of people vote for their top 100. Folk on twitter and the likes sent in lists as well and Dave Meltzer and some other old pricks got mad about stuff online.
I never voted in 2006 because Scotland had only just got the internet and besides that my pro wrestling horizons had not quite broadened enough for me to think I could tackle it properly. I posted my 2016 list here and I was happy with it at the time, and to be honest I'm still fine with it a decade down the line. 2026 me has 10 years of footage-watching on 2016 me so obviously this one I'm happier with, but either way I sort of look at each list as decennial stops on my JOURNEY as a stupid pro wrestling fan. Representations of my tastes over the past 10 years.
There were about 150 names I wanted to vote for and if I remade the list in a month some of the 50 that didn't make it today would probably make it then. Honestly, that 70-100 range is a crap shoot. Some people who made my list in 2016 never made it this time and a big part of why is really because I haven't watched them since the last vote. Mark Henry and Tajiri and Jose Lothario don't suck because I left them off the list this time around. I probably just haven't watched more than two matches of any of those guys since 2016. I've watched a whole bunch of Masa Kurisu and Magnum TA, though!
10 years ago I said I wanted to do a blog entry for every wrestler I voted for, talk about why I did, write about a match of theirs, whatever. I did that for approximately zero of those wrestlers, but really, if you're remotely arsed about why I voted for any of the people I did then throw their name in the search bar and it'll pull at least a couple results. I've written SOMETHING about everyone on this list and for the majority of them I've written about many somethings. The world is your oyster.
